not by nature

The structure’s cladding is eye catching and the perfect representation of this premium brand. The temporary building provides substantial space for repair, maintenance and storage, and it’s demountable design means that it can be relocated anywhere in the world.

Usage: Boatshed

Timeline: 3 months (March-June)

Specification: 40m x 50m Insulated, 12m Leg

Meticulous design and delivery

When we were approached by Emirates Team New Zealand to build their Team Boat Base in Barcelona ahead of the 37th America’s Cup, we had no doubt that the The Horizon would deliver on their brief.

Throughout the initial design stage, we worked closely with our client to ensure that the structure would meet their exact needs. From the size of the door to allow for loading in and out, to the height and square meterage of the internal mezzanines to allow for easy access to maintain the race boat, each part of this structure is delivered to work as an ideal solution for our end client.

The build of this impressive structure took a total of three months to complete. This included installation of a crane into the roof of our structure, which demonstrates the incredible structural integrity of this temporary building.

Our talented and experienced team members worked through any geographical and logistical challenges to ensure the successful delivery of this large scale building.

From screen to site

Colin Williams heads up our CAD team and couldn’t quite believe his eyes when he saw it in situ in Port Vell Marina. Having worked on the design of the Emirates Team New Zealand Boat Base on a screen for months, seeing the building come to life in all it’s glory was an incredible sight:

‘It’s a career highlight for me! When Mar-Key Group took me on at the age of 61, I thought I was going into a ‘retirement job’. You know, a bit of 3D CAD for a couple of years. But here I am, 2 years later leading a fantastic design team and producing buildings like this!’

Testimonial

“The Mar-Key construction team have finished.

Full credit to the construction team run by Craig and Olegg, they were outstanding in their energy and work ethic and a pleasure to work alongside.

On behalf of ETNZ a “BIG THANKYOU” to you and your team for all the effort to make this project successful.

There is no doubt the structure looks impressive on the Barcelona waterfront.”
