With less than 2 months from enquiry to delivery, we achieved the (almost) impossible.
We were tasked with designing, shipping and building a Grandstand canopy for the Adelaide 500 in South Australia. The canopy was a vital part of the event infrastructure as it would act as a 210 metre sun shade to provide as much cover as possible to spectators at the track.
Our in-house CAD and manufacturing departments collaborated closely to design a custom solution for this client to fit over their existing grandstand seats. This includes a 16-bay and an 8-bay structure with cut-to-size PVC roof sheets. The outcome is a bespoke grandstand canopy for the pit straight of the infamous Adelaide500 event.
Working alongside other contractors to ensure key timelines were met, we craned the temporary seating canopy into place once it had been constructed on the racetrack. Watch it here.
A key element of this project was that our client needed to be able to install and remove the canopy themselves when required, therefore we sent some of our most experienced site team to train them on the installation and removal of our product.
A project this tight on timelines demonstrates the true strength of our design and manufacturing teams. It was such a group effort to pull together to make it happen, and their dedication to this project and our client truly demonstrates why clients come to us time and time again. Read more about how the team made it happen, here.
Come rain or shine, our grandstand covers are suited to any weather or seating configuration. As well as keeping spectators under cover, they’re a fantastic branding opportunity to give sponsors
valuable visibility at large sporting events and festivals.

View case studyCan you do permanent and temporary grandstands?
Yes, your grandstand can be designed to stay in situ long term, or for a short period of time. This example for the Adelaide500 is installed and used throughout the racing then removed and stored when not in use, giving a really flexible approach to utilising the grandstands through different seasons.
What is the cost for installation of a temporary grandstand?
Install and removal costs will be based on your location and the size of the grandstand, so are quoted on a project by project basis. Where appropriate, we’re always happy to educate your team or local labour and provide installation guides so that you don’t have to rely on us each time, and so that you can procure and manage your operational costs accordingly.
How many seats can you cover?
Our grandstand covers can cover anything from a few hundred to thousands of seats like our Adelaide500 grandstand canopy… and they’re equally as good at keeping the sun off as they are the rain!
