We were approached by Tottenham Hotspur FC to provide a turn-key solution for their Women’s First Team. Having been training at a local school, the club were investing in the team and the requirement was for the new building to incorporate changing rooms, gymnasium, and physio room.
Located on Hotspur Way, this new Women’s Team Facility would now be located at the same training ground as the Men’s Team.
Working alongside our client, we supplied all necessary drawings to support the planning application, and after just 4 months, planning permission was granted.
Once the foundations and concrete slab were in place we got to work installing a 15m x 37.5m semi-permanent structure. Much to our client’s suprise, in just two weeks we had installed the aluminium frame, 80mm thick walling and 100mm thick roof panels. We then installed 13 double glazed windows and 8 doors of various specifications to give the structure all of the natural light and access that they needed for players, staff and equipment.
Work then started internally, with the installation of a heating/cooling system as well as all of the electrics and plumbing. During this phase we also installed the internal walls which were a mix of fire resistant plasterboard and acoustic plasterboard, all full height to the roof to comply with both fire regulations and the client’s sound attenuation requirements. We took care of every detail, so this really was a turn-key delivery!
Taking just 17 weeks from dropping the first foot on the slab to handing over the building, we are extremely proud to have been the chosen supplier. The building encompassed all facilties required by the Team including indoor gym, meeting rooms, offices, kitchen, and storage space.
Achieving full building control sign off, the new building provides an additional 562sqm of space conveniently located next to club’s main training ground.
It has been a true team effort right from the offset. At one point there were as many as 35 workers on site with all the trades present both inside and out. We’re experts at managing subcontract teams for a cohesive approach to projects like this one. Team work really does make the dream work!
It is aesthetically and functionally to our client’s exact requirements, yet our semi-permanent structure solutions provide the flexibility to change or extend should they need to in the future. All in all, our turn-key solutions are why clients like Tottenham Hotspur choose Mar-Key Group.
