New team, new construction experience
New sites and new experiences
Less than 2 months into his job as an Erector in our construction team, we caught up with Kristen at his second event build site to see how he’s finding his new role. It’s fair to say he’s getting stuck right in!
Kristen’s first temporary structure installation and removal was on site at Southampton Boat Show, and he’s now part of the team delivering multiple units including a temporary double deck in a (very muddy) forest in a secret location…
Before joining Mar-Key Group, Kristen was working in concreting but found he was wanting to explore new places and have more freedom within his job, hence why joining Mar-Key was an ideal fit for him.
Developing new skills
At just 21, Kristen is loving doing something that he’s never done before. Living in Blackpool, he now gets to travel all around the UK, building at the different site locations and having the chance to experience multiple construction techniques. “It’s great to see how big the structures are in real life and understanding all the elements to build them”. When asked what he likes most about the job, he explained “I love the people that I get to work with, doing a hard working job but also having a laugh with everyone. It’s a good job and a good challenge”.
Kristen’s story demonstrates that, whether you have previous experience or not, as long as you love a hands on job, working with good people and are happy to travel, you can thrive within the construction industry.
