Goodwood Motor Circuit celebrates landmark 75 years
2023 is a momentous year for British motorsport, marking the 75th anniversary of Goodwood Motor Circuit, which first opened to the public on 18th September 1948.
The Motor Circuit is to this day the only classic race track in the world to remain entirely in its original form, having been carefully restored.
Goodwood is England’s greatest sporting estate, home to three of the biggest sporting events in the world: Festival of Speed, the Qatar Goodwood Festival and Goodwood Revival.
Our events division has firsthand experience delivering its solutions directly to the truly iconic venue.
Mar-Key Group has supplied to Goodwood since 2011, and continues to deliver multiple temporary structures for two of the biggest events in their calendar. Structures provided range from racetrack viewing terraces and hospitality suites to exhibitor stands.
It’s a very special year for motorsport at Goodwood, not just celebrating three quarters of a century, but its three other birthdays:
- Festival of Speed – 30 years
- Revival – 25 years
- Road Racing Club – 25 years
Festival of Speed
On 20th June 1993, Goodwood Festival of Speed premiered for the first time. Forward the clock thirty years, a crowd of over 200,000 is expected to gather for the four-day weekend. This year’s festival takes place between 13th – 16th July, forecasted to be warm weather and a wonderful occasion.
Amongst other structures we’ll be supplying the Clark Pavilion, an elevated 15m x 50m clear span structure combined with 100sqm of outside decking and covered balcony, to provide a the perfect setting to take in the action.
FOS is firmly established as the world’s greatest celebration of motorsport and car culture.
