A rapidly growing manufacturer in the residential and commercial building market desperately needed to find a simple yet durable storage solution at their Lancashire Depot ahead of the winter.
They required an outdoor loading solution, which would be suitable for stacking pallets and covering their forklifts, protecting them from the elements all year round.
Following an arranged site visit and pull test, we were asked to supply their lean-to structure.
The client required a minimum of 5m clearance for access, so our design needed to accommodate for this. As 7m rear legs are beyond our usual stock offering, we manufactured these bespoke for the client, giving them a cost-effective, fit for purpose, long term solution to keep their staff and stock covered.
As there wasn’t a specific requirement for insulation or security, we agreed initially that a PVC roof cover would be sufficient for this type of application.
On further discussion with the client and due to it’s exposed location on the site, we later tailored the solution slightly to keep the weather at bay and give the structure greater wind-resistance.
Instead of a cladding the entire front gable, we installed PVC walls for each first bay, leaving an entrance gap in the middle two bays to allow maximum manoeuvrability of vehicles and stock.
Due to our speed of manufacturing and being based in the UK, we were able to honour a fast turnaround – built on time, on budget and to their exact requirements.
The final specification achieved is a 7.5m x 20m clear span structure, which links tidily to their warehouse to provide valuable covered loading space for their business.
It’s a testimony to British manufacturing that two like-minded businesses can support each other to encourage growth of the industry and boost the nation’s economy.
